Etz Chaim is Cooking Dinner for PADS

On Sunday afternoon, April 23, beginning at 12:15 pm, we will be preparing dinner in the Temple kitchen for approximately 150 people who are living at the PADS Interim Housing Site. At 5:00 pm, we will be taking the food to the site located in nearby Downers Grove near Butterfield Rd & Finley Rd, where we will serve it to the guests until 7:00pm.

Because there is no central eating area there, we will be handing out the food in individual carry-out containers.

We are hoping to do this project monthly.

PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is the organization which helps people in DuPage County who are homeless. For more than 30 years, until the Covid pandemic, Etz Chaim’s social hall was a PADS site on Sunday nights, where those without homes were provided meals and a place to sleep. 

How can you help? 
1) Email Meryl Diamond (homes@meryldiamond.com) if you want to help cook or serve on April 23
2) Make a donation to the Social Action Fund, noting that your donation is for PADS. We will need to purchase consumable items such as carryout containers, aluminum trays, and some food items. Thankfully, we will be getting meat and poultry and some other items donated by Trader Joe’s.
